1. Hertz

Location: Various locations in Belfast (Central Railway Station, Ravenhill Road, Belfast City Airport and more)
Contact: You may contact them here
We recently took a look at Hertz and gotta say, they’re pretty darn convenient. They’ve got locations all over the place, which is perfect whether you’re flying into town or just need a car to get around.
They’ve got a good variety of cars too – everything from compact cars for navigating city traffic to those roomy SUVs perfect for a road trip with the family.
What we really liked was their upfront pricing. They include coverage for theft and damage in the rental cost. There are also no hidden fees or extra charges for using a credit card, which is a huge plus.
Their website is super easy to use – booking, changing, or cancelling reservations was a piece of cake. They even have a “Best Rate Guarantee,” so you know you’re getting a competitive price.
Our team even decided to join their Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program to get perks like faster pick-up and maybe some discounts in the future.
The only thing that gave us pause was a few comments we heard about their staff not always being the friendliest.
Provides an efficient car that’s ideal for long journeys
“Great car great service. I was a little nervous about hiring a car as I having only ever done it once before with my partner. I organised this trip and I am so pleased with my choice. The car was great (hybrid) as it was very economical. It looked great and did everything I needed it too. Thanks Matt and Bamber for your help. The only thing I would say is as a customer I needed to know more about the boarder fees and cover.”

2. Enterprise Car & Van Hire

Location: Various locations in Belfast Belfast Boucher Road, Belfast Mallusk, Belfast City Airport and more)
Contact: 0800 111 4312
We decided to give Enterprise a try for our latest trip, and we gotta say, we were pretty happy with our experience.
They have a really good selection of cars. They have smaller ones that are perfect for navigating those narrow city streets and SUVs and vans for those who need extra space or are travelling with the whole crew.
They even have a free pick-up service where they’ll actually come get you and take you to the rental branch, which is super convenient.
Another thing we liked was their straightforward pricing. They offer unlimited mileage on all their vehicles, so you can explore to your heart’s content without worrying about racking up extra charges.
Booking online was a breeze too. You can even prepay for your rental to get a discount. We saw they had 10% off van hires if you prepay, which is a pretty sweet deal.
The only thing we heard that was a bit iffy was that some people had trouble getting in touch with them by phone.
Makes the first-time rental experience smooth and hassle-free
“First time hiring a car personally, but as my own car was in for repair, I decided to do so and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Daniel met us at the Cromac St branch and as I’d booked everything online, I was literally there 10 mins max. Daniel was very pleasant to deal with and upon returning the car the lady that checked over it was also very friendly (I didn’t catch her name). I cannot fault anything about this experience with Enterprise and would not hesitate to use them again should I need to. Thankyou”

“First time using enterprise and I’ll certainly use them again. Very professional, friendly staff who kept in contact throughout the time I had the car while working between myself and warranty company. I extended the use and they were more than accommodating. Car was immaculate. Such an easy transaction. Will opt for drop off and pick up next time.”

Goes above and beyond with thoughtful support
“I have used Budget a few times and am very happy with the cars as well as the value to rent. Most of all want to thank Ian on the front desk as he provides exceptional customer service every time! He waited on me last night when my flight was severely delayed, and kept in touch to see how I was getting on. A well informed, kind gentleman”

Supplies a vehicle perfectly suited to customer needs
“We recently hired a car for a long weekend. Upon arriving at the Budget desk in the airport we were informed we had to agree on a hold being applied to our credit card for insurance purposes due to us booking the car through a third party. All was explained perfectly and we duly obliged. The car was exactly what we required and the pick up and drop off were hassle free. And we’d like to give a special mention to the employee that quickly found my wife’s purse which was left in the car and then proceeded to track us down in the airport to return it, thank you, sorry we didn’t get your name.”

Their website is really easy to use, which is always a plus. You can find the car you want, make a reservation, and manage your booking all in one place.

Sets itself apart with exceptional customer care
“Great experience. The woman clerk that assisted us upon pickup was friendly, helpful, and very available to answer every question we had. Unfortunately these days it’s not that common to find such people at car rentals. The rental office is a bit further away from Belfast City centre but it’s still quite accessible with public transportation. Really recommend!”

Simplifies the rental process with a van ready at pickup
“Excellent customer service. The van was ready for collection on arrival. Very simple check in and out procedures. I had to extend the rental twice and it was extremely simple to do this on the phone, which was answered by a human very quickly. Good value for money as well. Very satisfied.”
